NIMBUZZ

Lately, I have been using Nimbuzz. It is an application enables people to enjoy free and low-cost mobile calls, free instant messaging, social network (such as facebook, twitter) and other rich communication features (such as skype), using the internet capabilities of their mobile device.

I am 100% happy with this application because it allows me to keep In touch with anyone who is in my online contact no matter what social network they are.  It organize your contact in group depending on what account have you added. As well, it have other great feature such as, take a photo, and send email, an online gallery, and even more.

When I compared nimbuzz with other application such as, ebuddy and/or fring. I still prefer nimbuzz. The following bullet point explain why:

  • Nimbuzz has a much better user interface than fring.
  • Nimbuzz show chat history (if you like) while ebuddy or fring doesnt.
  • Nimbuzz doesnt start automatically like fring does.
  • Nimbuzz is faster than ebuddy.

I believe if you like to keep in touch and use social network on the go you should try nimbuzz. It is just one application with multi-task.

Definitely an excellent phone app. I’ve got it installed on my smart-phone for quite sometime now and I’m a frequent user. What I found interesting about this app is how it incorporates different web 2.0 tools. You can basically sign-in to all you’re social networking sites from one app, despite the fact that it lags/freezes from time-to-time. With the app installed I now have 2 options when making calls, I can either use the wireless connection or mobile carrier. How long have you been using this application and have you encountered any problems so far?

I started to use nimbuzz because my cousin talked me about it. Before to use nimbuzz I tried fring and ebuddy. I didn’t like them because instead of the user manager the application the application want to do what it want to do. For instance, fring always start when your turn your phone on which I find really annoying…I believe if the user want to use the application she/he will go and start it. Another thing I didnt like was that when someone want to chat with you fring come up and doesnt have a cancel option so it open the conversation even you dont want it….

I have been using nimbuzz for about a month and I really like it and I am happy with it. At the moment I dont have any problem with it. I believe the thing I like most is that when someone want to chat with you, it open a little window with the conversation and two option ‘show’ or ‘cancel’ so if you are doing something you can see the converstation later on… Nimbuzz doesnt start until you decide to start.

I will let you know if I find any problem with it.

But the way, I also using snaptu which is a notification application. This application allow you to check your notification in your social network such as facebook and twitter. It is really good too. If you want to have a look this is the link: http://www.snaptu.com/

I just like to be in contact every time and thank to the web 2.0 I can do it no matter where I am…. (:

Thanks for this insightful post. I had never heard of Nimbuzz before but I had been looking for a replacement to eBuddy for a very long time. I’ll have to check this out asap!

On this topic, do you know if there are any security advantages or any other advantages for using this for business? I would like to hear if your personal experience has identified anything that could be specifically useful to the corporate environment.

    Thanks,
    Hayden

      Hi Hayden,

I believe one of advantage that it could bring to any business is that it allow the user/employee to keep in touch every single minute. The employee could not need a computer to check their social account. They could connect their mobile devices using the company connection while they are in the company so it could be free to the employee.

Even though it could bring a disadvantage to the company becuase the empployee may get distract and spend more time using the phone rather than doing the job.

      Cheers

    Hey Paola,

I heard about a similar mobile application but only for nokia mobiles. The application is called OVI. Have you heard of it. I’m not sure if other mobile can use this application. I checked the website through the link you provided in this post and it looks very interesting 🙂
I’ve always had problems with international calls and their prices so this is definately something i will consider using. Will asses the pros and cons to make sure I’m choosing the right tool. Thanks for sharing this tool 🙂

Interesting application very similar to e-buddy, first time i’ve ever heard of this app i always used to use e-buddy. The collaboration of all the common social networking tools is a smart idea seeing people like to use a collection of different ones and having the power to chat to anyone who is online on any platform i.e. facebook, twitter is even better. Great post and interesting app i must try

Hi Paola, there is another phone application called fring. It is all must identical to the one you mentioned Nimbuzz, but it supports more mobile internet connection (3G/4G, Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE) than Nimbuzz (Wi-Fi, 3G, 2G, GPRS).

I saw this application 1 week ago from my iphone apps store, in my mind i was saying what the hell is this app about and why the name is Nimbuzz!!??, but after reading your post about it a downloaded it directly and guess what?? It’s amazing, the ability of this application is more better than fring, i’ve been using fring for almost 3 years but this application is waaay better. The fast of how it’s work amazed me.

Really Great post and Helpful Information.
