Social Network – Personal Experience

Since 2007 I have been interacting with social network such us, myspace, bebo, hi5, and facebook. But the question is do I still use all of them? Hmmm no really, I only use facebook because I believe is the best social network between all of them. I use facebook because everyone uses it and it is the more popular social network around the world. Moreover, I think facebook have a great privacy setting that allow the user to have their page with the amount of privacy they want. Another thing I like about facebook is that it is very simple and clear to understand and to navigate. I concluded that one of the obvious differences between myspace and facebook is that myspace profile looks completely unique while facebook profile looks basically the same to everyone profile. Don’t you want sometime to be able to have your facebook profile with your favourite background?? Or something that make you unique from other users???

I think Facebook don’t need a favourite background and all this stuff that others social network have, because Facebook has everything, and more important, an easy way to do it. It’s a great post you have here, congratulations! And one more thing…definitely nowdays Facebook is the best Social Network.

I’m strongly agree with your point of view. Facebook has become the favourite social network for most people, it is maybe because it does’t have sotial distintions and people of differents ages are able to use it because is very simple and easy to go. Another important factor in favor of facebook, among other social networks is the effectiveness that these give us to comunicate with other regardless the time and the distance. On other hand, i like the appearance of facebook because it is simple and light for our view, in difference with other websites where everyone chose a different font or a different background, which is really anoying for me.

I’m totally agree with Facebook is the best Social Network in the world, because it helps to have communication with people from many places and shorten the distance. It is definitely the best social network in the world, allowing to resume the contact with people with whom you do not talk in years. Besides, it doesn’t need background or this sort of things, because for this reason, facebook looks simple, easy and cool without complications.

Facebook profiles definitely have very little room in terms of personalisation of profiles – but I am mostly glad that this is the case. For every well designed MySpace profile, I feel like there are 10 that are poorly-designed to the point of being annoying. That said, there is definitely a balance that social networks can strike between giving users to little and too much control over their profile.

I personally dont think it is such a good idea to have unique background for facebook, because after experienced bebo, myspace, xanga etc. I have noticed that it is very hard for users to choose the right kind of background to suit everyone. What i mean is, for example, my friend chosen a background which he thinks is “cool” and “awesome”, but then when i went to his page, i find it hard to read his posts, or might get distracted by his background. (If you get what i mean)

What i really think is, Facebook probably already has everything that a social networking should have. The more changes they make, the more difficult to its users. My opinion is, keep the current appearance, only make changes to its capability. 🙂
    Just saying.

well i never used myspace … but i got facebook and i think you are right its one of the best and most popular social networks around the world. And abobut the personal background in facebook i wouldn’t mind it because a lot of people like those things but i think facebook looks good the way it is. simple and easy to use. im not a big fan that spends 24/7 in it but once a day for a few mins its enough for me to check comments and stuff and i think its a fun way to communicate with friends and express points of view about anything. 🙂

    Good observations.
I also use facebook. Just because it seems like everyone has it, and its not good to be away from whats happening around, and that is the easiest way to do it..
I associate my space with Teenagers, dont know why. it may be because it allows you to personalize it so much.

I personally don’t regularly use any of the social media tools (MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, etc)… guess I’m a bit anti-social…

But from my experience it would seem that Facebook is preferable over MySpace, the other comments help to reinforce this. In my opinion it’s amazing that Facebook was able to do this having being launched 6 months after MySpace. Clearly MySpace had the edge with the userbase.

Then there is also the accusations which have been made against Mark Zuckerberg. Mark has been accused of stealing code/ideas from “ConnectU” a social media platform for University students (more info).

Later on he also hacked into ConnectU (more info).

To me it seems like a rather important legal/ethical matter which is something very important to consider. Who knows what is going on behind the scenes of Facebook and what other mischief Mark could be getting into.

With all these accusations against the primary developer of Facebook it should have only provided extra fuel to MySpace.

facebook, myspace, hi5 etc etc in the end what is really the difference?

their purpose is all the same, to communicate with others, share photos, gossip other peoples live.

its really up to the persons liking, like me in the beginning i hated facebook, i wouldnt use it, it seemed boring, plane , but then all my friends, Girlfriend 😛 etc, used facebook, so i was, why not?

it is simple to use and why would you have a background profile of twilight or something?, what is the point of that? you can share your hobbies or personal preferences with your friends, you dont need a picture for that
    (my opinion)

i reckon myspace seems more likely to be used by younger adolescents, then actually the ”late teens” and adults.

for me facebook looks good how it is, doesnt need a change.

( i know, best answer of the day ) xD

I agree that Facebook is the most popular social network but it doesn’t imply that it is the best one. I think that it is the most popular because it was the first one. Also, I believe that people must be very careful with the information that publish in Facebook because privacy must be compromited.

Interesting discussion going on here 😛
Personally, I am only a ‘I facebook because I have to’ user as I have many friends who I like to keep in touch with, but are a long distance away. I hate the idea of having my information public and I don’t like creating a personal profile with customised everything. It’s like giving away a part of me, which I’m just not comfortable with. For me it came down to:

My distant friends are on Facebook. So to keep in touch I must also (sadly) have Facebook.
